I Had a Dream to Build . . .

a room box, one with a front, just like a doll house, but with only one room . . . a Boutique, with a large front window, or maybe two. ...

Colour Scheme

When we think of the Jazz age, we automatically think of the Art Deco designs which began in Europe, particularly Paris, in the early years of the 20th century. The era in history which started with the end of  World War I, when jazz music, modern ideas, flappers and dance became popular, then ended with the Wall Street crash and the beginning of the Great Depression of 1929.  However, in reality the Jazz Age reigned until the outbreak of World War II.

Being extremely fond of both Art Deco design and Jazz, meant having to decide between the two completely different decorating styles, which was challenging.

The Art Deco's strong geometric patterns represented modernity, everyday glamour and elegance. The era relied heavily on clean lines, bold colour and stylized patterns. It incorporated ornate embellishments, and metallic surfaces were also hallmarks of the era.

Whereas the Jazz Age interiors used subtle pastels and classic neutrals as a background with striking accents of bold, exotic colours.

However, as time passed I changed my mind several times, in the end I chose to go with a sunny yellow and soft grey interior and a black and gold exterior.
